Sweet Pea's a Bloomin'

After all the weird weather we had this June I finally noticed some Sweet Pea's blooming a few day's ago! These climbing flowers are one of my most favorite flowers. The scent is very perfumed and the flowers themselves are delicate and interesting to look at. Can't wait to make a boquet of these beauties!

Bragging about crochet SO FINE

I can't help my self. I am a crochet junkie. I have to bragg because this last Saturday I went to my lys and received a signed advanced copy of Kristin Omdahls new design book crochet SO FINE. As you can see from the cover the designs are beautiful and all with fine yarns.
I could not help from wanting to make just about every design in the whole book. Really worth the purchase.
The book comes out in July so many people have pre ordered. I am so lucky to have such wonderful gal's at the yarn shop who went to the recent TNNA yarn show this June in Columbus Ohio, what thoughtfulness of them to bring me back this signed advanced copy of one of my favorite designers.
I feel soo special!

Lipstick on your collar top

I finally finished my Lipstick on your collar top from Doris Chan's Every Day Crochet design book a couple weeks ago.

I really enjoyed finishing this project as it thrilled me to death to make a wearable garment. This is my first top I have ever made.

I also feel incredibly spoiled now as I learned Doris' technique in crocheting from the top down. You begin by making a yoke, then when you fold it in half you immediately like magic have a neck hole and sleeves! Yay! Then you crochet the rest of the piece in rounds so the effect is NO seems, double YAY! Who really likes sewing all those pieces together? I sure don't.

I used hand dyed mercenized cotton #1 (lace weight) yarn from Chile'. This yarn has variegated colors of purple. I love the way the yarn go's from deep hue to light hue, it makes the top very interesting. Wish I could show it better from camera.

I did not make the attachable collar yet, but will soon. Also there is a hidden spot in the collar to add draw stings so that you can cinch the collar up and decided how low you will go off the shoulder or not. How cool is that?

Manicure Day

A dirt manicure that is!

I decided after looking at the weather report today that I might finally be able to plant pole beans, cuke's, basil, and some more herbs.

We have had so much rain in this neck of the woods that it has really put a hold on most things I would have already planted by now.

I noticed this morning that despite all the ugly rain that I had a couple tomato's, and some johnnny jump up's peeping their way through the sugar snap pea's that I planted.

I had my hunnie take a picture of me in my Anne of Okly wanna be hat! I bought this hat from San Diego Hat Co, a couple years ago. You can bend it to whatever shape you like. I guess I should take better care of my skin while gardening, hence the sunscreen and hat.

Not sure however If I should be going to the Del Mar horse races or my back yard?
